Dr Kate presents webinar to Hypnosis New Zealand

I was delighted to be invited by Hypnosis New Zealand to present a webinar on ‘The Therapist as Teacher’.

It was wonderful to see so many people gathered on Zoom for a meeting at 9am New Zealand time (10pm in the UK).

The focus of the presentation was on the concept that within the role of therapist there is also the role of teacher.

We started with a discussion about what attributes are common with a poor teacher and with a good teacher, before going on to consider how therapist skills, such as use of language, enhanced observation abilities and rapport building aid effective teaching.

I then moved on to focus on the benefits of using teaching tales, before giving one of my favourite examples (‘My friend John’).

I then wrapped up the session with my seven-step model for teaching techniques.

I am going to be developing that into a workshop, so if you haven’t yet, remember to sign up to my mailing list, to ensure you get updates and other useful information.
